OLD WESTBURY, NY - University of the District of Columbia men's tennis player Tomas Gajdusek (Prague, Czech Republic) and Queens College women's soccer and track and field student-athlete Katherine Colon (West Babylon, N.Y.) received the East Coast Conference Excellence in Community and Character Award at the ECC Awards Dinner on May 23.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - The East Coast Conference announced the 2011-2012 Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as well as the Scholar-Athletes of the Year for all of its sponsored sports at the ECC Awards Dinner on May 23. Bruno Reich of UDC earned the Scholar Athlete of the Year award for men's tennis.

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia men’s tennis team has earned a No. 3 seed in this year’s NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Firebirds (16-4) will battle No. 6 seed New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in the first round on Sunday, April 29th on the campus of host, Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.

FLUSHING, NY - The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team fell short in the East Coast Conference Finals for the second straight year, as the No. 2 seeded Firebirds were defeated by top-seeded Queens College, 5-1 on Thursday, April 19th.

Carlos Quiroga earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles for the Firebirds' first point of the afternoon.
