Firebirds Women’s Tennis Falls 6-3 at Chestnut Hill in Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team was defeated, 6-3 by Chestnut Hill College in non-conference action between two regionally ranked teams on Thursday afternoon at CHC Tennis Courts.

Junior Maxime Duijst is a three-time 2nd Team All-ECC selection.

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team snapped its five match losing streak with a resounding, 8-1 home victory over non-conference foe Holy Family on a hot Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital.

FAIRFAX, VA – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team earned victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 and 4 singles, but the Firebirds were ultimately defeated by Division I George Mason, 5-2 on Monday afternoon in the inaugural match on the new Mason tennis courts.

WASHINGTON, DC – Both University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis seniors Sofia Leon and Jessica Nunez earned singles victories as the Firebirds celebrated Senior Day on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital; however, UDC was defeated by Goldey-Beacom, 6-3.

Due to expected inclement weather, the men’s and women’s tennis matches at Chestnut Hill originally scheduled for Friday have been postponed to Tuesday, April 15th at 1 p.m. Also, to avoid the impending storm, Saturday’s men’s tennis match against St. Thomas Aquinas will be played indoors at the Arlington YMCA Tennis & Squash Center at 12:30 p.m.

BRONXVILLE, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team visited Concordia College for an East Region matchup on Sunday, March 16th at the Meyers Tennis Center. Junior Maxime Duijst and sophomore Peerada Looareesuwan teamed up in doubles for the only Firebirds victory of the afternoon as UDC was defeated, 8-1.

FLUSHING, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team was defeated, 6-0 by No. 2 seed and tournament host, Queens, in the East Coast Conference Semifinals Friday afternoon at Queens College Tennis Courts.

FLUSHING, NY - The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team returns to the ECC Championship Tournament for the 3rd consecutive year as the No. 3 seed in this year’s tournament. The Firebirds will square off against tournament host and No. 2 seed, Queens, tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Senior Jessica Nunez earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Tamara Kenia for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches for a resounding, 9-0 win over East Coast Conference newcomer, Daemen on Wednesday morning in both teams’ regular season finale.
