Jessica Nunez, Maxime Duijst Earn All-ECC Women’s Tennis Accolades

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Senior Jessica Nunez earned First Team All-East Coast Conference for the fourth consecutive year and junior Maxime Duijst earned Second Team All-ECC for the third consecutive year as the conference announced its All-Conference awards as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Nunez (Electrical Engineering – Guayaquil, Ecuador/American School of Guayaquil) finished the 2013 fall regular season with an impressive 9-3 overall mark at No. 1 singles. She was 7-2 in dual meets, including a 6-2 record in ECC play. Perhaps her most impressive win of the season came against her four-year rival, Dowling's Robyn Romanoff. Nunez outlasted the talented Romanoff, 6-4, 6-3 back on September 14th. She also teamed up with freshman Tamara Kenia for a 6-3 overall record at No. 1 doubles. The pair was 6-2 (5-2 ECC) in dual matches.

Duijst (Biology – Valkenswaard, Netherlands/Pleincollege Sint-Joris) earned a 7-3 overall record which included a 7-2 mark in dual matches and 6-2 record vs. ECC competition at the No. 3 singles spot. Among her six conference wins was a notable, 6-4, 6-4 win over Queens' Jennifer Fridman on October 5th. Duijst also teamed up with Peerada Looareesuwan for a 6-3 (4-2 ECC) record at No. 2 doubles.  

The league's head coaches also voted NYIT junior Celia Respault player of the year, NYIT freshman Claudia Sanchez Gonazalez rookie of the year and Queens' Alan Nagel coach of the year.
