Women’s Tennis Defeated by Queens in ECC Semifinals
FLUSHING, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team was defeated, 6-0 by No. 2 seed and tournament host, Queens, in the East Coast Conference Semifinals Friday afternoon at Queens College Tennis Courts.
The No. 3 seeded Firebirds were swept in doubles play and suffered three losses (the final two simultaneously) in singles play as the Knights (11-1) marched on to face No. 1 seed NYIT in the ECC Finals for a second straight year tomorrow afternoon. The Bears advanced with a 5-0 shutout over No. 4 seed LIU Post.
With this loss, the fall season comes to a close. UDC finished with an overall record of 7-3 and had two players earn All-ECC accolades: senior Jessica Nunez (First Team All-ECC) and junior Maxime Duijst (Second Team All-ECC).
