TOWSON, MD – Junior Miguel Uzcategui of the University of the District of Columbia men’s tennis team has earned Third Team Capital One Academic All-America honors as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams on Friday, June 7th.

Aleksandar Grabovac, Miguel Uzcategui Earn CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District Honors

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Aleksandar Grabovac and junior Miguel Uzcategui of the University of the District of Columbia men’s tennis team were both selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 First Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) on Friday afternoon. Both are now eligible for Academic All-American honors.
Firebirds Men’s Tennis Earn No. 4 Seed in NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia men’s tennis team will return to the NCAA Division II East Regional tournament for a second consecutive season as the No. 4 seed. The Firebirds will travel to Flushing, NY to take on No. 5 seed and host, Queens College on April 29th with the time of the match still to be determined.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – University of the District of Columbia senior Aleksandar Grabovac has earned the East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year award and head coach T. Richard “Dickie” Mahaffey III was named the Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches. In addition, juniors Ike Kiro and Miguel Uzcategui joined Grabovac on the All-ECC First Team.

FLUSHING, NY – The top-seeded University of the District of Columbia men’s tennis team swept doubles play and picked up two quick singles wins to earn an easy, 5-0 win over No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas in East Coast Conference Semifinal action Friday afternoon on the campus of Queens. The Firebirds return to the ECC Finals for a third consecutive year where they will face the winner of today’s second semifinal match between No. 2 Queens and No. 3 NYIT tomorrow at 12 p.m.
