CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – On Thursday, August 8, the East Coast Conference announced the recipients of the first ever ECC Academic Teams of Excellence Award.

"The East Coast Conference believes in the 'collegiate model' of Division II, which focuses on students and programs committed to the values and mission of higher education," said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff. "We are very proud of the over 975 student-athletes who were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for this past year and are equally as proud of the 17 men's and women's teams that earned the first ever ECC Academic Teams of Excellence honors for 2012-13."

The ECC Academic Teams of Excellence Award is presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport. The 17 teams honored for the 2012-13 season combined for a 3.36 gpa. Roberts Wesleyan led the way with six teams honored in their first season in the ECC.
