Firebirds Men’s Tennis Earn No. 4 Seed in NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team will return to the NCAA Division II East Regional tournament for a second consecutive season as the No. 4 seed. The Firebirds will travel to Flushing, NY to take on No. 5 seed and  host, Queens College on April 29th with the time of the match still to be determined.

Should District of Columbia advance to the 2nd round, the Firebirds will play No. 1 seed, Concordia the following day.

The Firebirds are 11-4 overall this season with wins over two top-five regionally ranked teams (Queens and NYIT) and a victory over a Division I foe (Howard). Only two of District of Columbia's losses this season came against Division II opponents. The Firebirds defeated Queens during the regular season, 6-3 on April 6th.

District of Columbia advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed last season via a 5-1 victory over No. 6 seed NYIT. They were then defeated by No. 2 seed, Queens College, 5-2.

The Firebirds featured the East Coast Conference player of the year in senior Aleksandar Grabovac and the ECC coach of the year in Dickie Mahaffey.
