UDC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Earn ITA All-Academic Team Honors; Eight Individual Firebirds Earn Scholar Athlete Awards

TEMPE, AZ – Both the men’s and women’s University of the District of Columbia tennis teams earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors, and eight individual Firebird student-athletes from both teams earned ITA Scholar-Athlete awards as announced by the ITA on Tuesday, July 25th.

Castrillon earned the decisive 5th point with a No. 4 singles win.

WILMINGTON, DE – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team battled from start to finish in a narrow, 5-4 loss on the road to the No. 3 ranked team in the NCAA Division II East Region, Goldey-Beacom College.

FLUSHING, NY – No. 4 seeded University of the District of Columbia was defeated, 5-1 by top-seeded New York Institute of Technology in East Coast Conference Tournament semifinal action Friday afternoon at Queens College Tennis Center.

UDC and NYIT, who squared off here on Oct. 21, will meet in the ECC semifinals.
Bracket Finalized for ECC Women's Tennis Championship; Firebirds a No. 4 Seed

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - For the second straight year it came down to the final match of the regular season, but the brackets have been finalized for the 2016 ECC Women's Tennis Championship. Plenty of familiar faces will vie for a conference championship with the same four schools are back in the tournament for the fourth straight year. Tournament action commences with semifinal play on Friday, October 28 at the Queens College Tennis Center. The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship match on Saturday at 12 noon.

ARLINGTON, VA – The University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team was defeated, 8-1 by East Coast Conference reigning champion, NYIT on Friday afternoon in a match moved indoors to Arlington YMCA due to rain.
