Firebirds Storm Back with Four Straight Singles Win to Complete Comeback Win vs. Roberts Wesleyan

WASHINGTON, DC – Trailing Roberts Wesleyan 4-1, the University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team won the remaining four straight singles matches to complete a come-from-behind, 5-4 victory Sunday morning in East Coast Conference play at UDC Tennis Courts.

The Firebirds' top four singles players each came through with clutch victories, including junior No. 1 Dominika Hadnadova's match-clinching victory, 7-6(4), 7-5 over Marousia Bosch in the final match of the day. Hadnadova's win today was the second straight match-clinching victory in back-to-back, 5-4 victories by the Firebirds this weekend vs. ECC foes Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan.

UDC improved to 3-1 overall and in conference play with today's win, and the Redhawks fell to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

In doubles play, Hadnadova teamed with Skobkina for an 8-3 top doubles win over Bosch and Natalia Cardona. UDC was dealt a 9-7 No. 2 doubles loss, and it forfeited the No. 3 match due to an insufficient lineup.

The Firebirds also forfeited the No. 6 singles match, and team newcomer Arielle Ward was defeated in straight sets by Marine Kennel at No. 5 singles.

Needing to win every remaining match, the Firebirds pulled through and completed the victory.

UDC will take the next two weeks off before competing in the ITA East Regional Championships in East Meadow, NY, October 1st – 3rd
