CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - For the second straight year it came down to the final match of the regular season, but the brackets have been finalized for the 2016 ECC Women's Tennis Championship. Plenty of familiar faces will vie for a conference championship with the same four schools are back in the tournament for the fourth straight year. Tournament action commences with semifinal play on Friday, October 28 at the Queens College Tennis Center. The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship match on Saturday at 12 noon.

Championship play begins when ECC Regular Season Champion, NYIT, takes on No. 4 seed University of the District of Columbia at 11 a.m. on Friday morning. NYIT made it four straight ECC Regular Season titles with an 8-1 victory over previously unbeaten, Queens College this afternoon. The Bears, who are looking for their fifth straight conference championship, have pushed their ECC winning streak to 40 straight matches including championship play.

UDC is back in the tournament for the sixth straight season after finishing with a 4-3 conference and overall record to date. The Firebirds were the last team to defeat NYIT in ECC Championship play, doing so to win their first and only conference championship to date in 2011. NYIT won the previous meeting between the two schools by a score of 8-1 on October 21.

The other semifinal matchup features host and No. 2 seed Queens College against No. 3 seed LIU Post at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers, making their fourth straight ECC Championship appearance, come into tournament play with a 5-2 ECC mark and an 6-2 overall record. Queens, ECC runner-up each of the past four seasons, finished with a 6-1 ECC record and an 8-1 overall mark.

In their previous matchup this season on October 18, Queens narrowly defeated LIU Post by a final tally of 5-4.

For the first time in tournament history, parts of the matches will be live streamed through the ECC YouTube page.
