
Women's Track & Field Shines with Multiple All-Region Selections
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds had a strong showing in the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season, as multiple student-athletes earned All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). These selections recognize the top-five individuals in each event within their respective regions, highlighting UDC's continued excellence on the track and the field.
UDC's 2025 All-Region Honorees:
- Kayla Cooper (Jr.) – 60 Meters, 200 Meters, Long Jump
- Iyanna Jackson (Sr.) – 60 Meters
- Emmanuela Katou Kouami (Jr.) – Weight Throw
- Zoe Shaw (Jr.) – High Jump, Triple Jump
Cooper had an exceptional season, earning All-Region honors in three events. She recorded all three of her personal bests at the ECC Championships back in February sweeping gold in all three events. In the 60m she clocked in at 7.67s (third in the region), she surpassed the national provisional qualifying mark in the long jump with a jump of 5.73m (4th in the region) and was fifth in the region in the 200m with a time of 25.25s.
Jackson secured All-Region honors in the 60-meter dash with a national provisional qualifying mark of 7.63s, which she recorded at the VMI Winter Rekays back in Juanuary. This was also a school record which placed her second in the region.
Shaw excelled in both the high jump and triple jump, earning All-Region recognition in both events. In the high jump she hit a season-best mark of 1.60m at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational, which placed her tied for third in the region. In the triple jump she recorded the second best mark in the region ,11.62m, which she jumped at the VMI Winer Relays.
Katou-Kouami surpassed the national provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw (17.24m) to set a new UDC school record after winning gold at the ECC Championships last month. This mark also solidified her spot as the top thrower in the region.
