Emmanuela Katou Kouami Earns ECC Co-Field Athlete of the Week

Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's Emmanuela Katou Kouami has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Field Co-Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performances at the Kaye & JJ Invitational. The junior from Bronx, NY, delivered a record-breaking effort in the weight throw and secured a second place finish in the shot put.

Katou Kouami won the weight throw in a field of 12 with a new school-record mark of 15.08m at the Kaye & JJ Invitational. That mark tops the ECC and ranks second in the NCAA East Region. The UDC junior also placed second in a field of 14 in the shot put with a throw of 10.79m, which ranks fifth in the ECC. 

Kayla Cooper also earned a spot on the honor roll. Cooper placed second in the 60m dash field of 20 with a time of 7.89 at the Kaye & JJ Invitational. The UDC junior ran the fastest time in the preliminaries with a time of 7.81. Cooper went on to win the 200m in a field of 19 with a time of 26.33.
