Jarrett Breaks 600m UDC Record at Seahawk Shootout
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- the University of the District of Columbia's women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Seahawk Shootout meet.
600m
Ayesha Jarrett set the pace, breaking the school's 600m record, clocking in at 1:38.05 to place sixth out of a field of 34.
60m hurdles
Kayleigh Shelton improved on her time from last week clocking in at 9.29s which was good for 11th/28.
1000m
Freshman Rainn Sheppard placed 6th out of a field of 25 with a time of 3:03.96. Her time was also the fastest D2 time at the meet.
300m
Iyanna Jackson crossed the line first for the Firebirds clocking in at 42.13s to place 18th/92.
Kayla Cooper ran a time of 43.10s to place 37th/92.
High Jump
Zoe Shaw placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.63m which was the best DII height of the meet.
Weight Throw
Emmanuela Katou Kouami bested her weight throw from last week's meet, throwing 14.30m to place 10th/23. Her throw was the best DII throw of the meet.
4x400m relay
The quartet of Samantha Morrison, Chacoia Wilkes, Rainn Sheppard and Iyanna Jackson ran a time of 4:03.63 to place 9th/19 which was the second fastest DII time of the meet.
The Firebirds will take a break for the Holidays, and will be back in action at the HBCU Classic on January 13th at the Armory in N.Y.
