
UDC Women’s Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Battle to New Haven, 5–2
MILFORD, CT- The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team turned in a gritty performance against a strong University of New Haven squad on Saturday but ultimately fell short, 5–2, on the road.
The Firebirds opened the match with intensity in doubles play. The duo of Polina Zelentsova and Desire Parn secured a win at the top doubles position, taking down Ferrarini and Carreras, 6–3. However, New Haven claimed victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to clinch the opening point.
In singles action, Desire Parn continued her dominance at the top of the lineup with a convincing 6–1, 6–4 win over Valentina Ferrarini. Célia Bastin added UDC's second point with a strong 6–3, 6–2 win at the No. 3 position. Despite several close matches—including a tight three-set battle at No. 2—New Haven managed to take four singles wins to close out the match.
