Firebirds Defeat Bobcats 5-2 on the Road
FROSTBURG, MD- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team defeated Frostburg State University 5-2 on the road, Tuesday evening to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Firebirds took the doubles point after winning at No.2 and 3 and went on to win the first three matches to secure their second victory of the season.
Laura Marie picked up UDC's first singles point after cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over her opponent at the No.2 spot. Mariona Franco was up next, winning the first set 6-2 and battling through a tough 7-6(5) second set win. Sofia Bellucco clinched the winning point at No.4 in dominating fashion with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Up next, UDC (2-0) will host Damen University in their first conference match up of the season on Friday. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
