University of the District of Columbia Women's Tennis Falls to Howard, 7-0
WASHINGTON, DC - The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat as they visited Division I Howard University on Thursday afternoon at Banneker Community Center.
Maxime Duijst (Valkenswaard, Netherlands - Pleincollege Sint-Joris) and Kristyna Nepivodova (Breznice, Czech Republic - Gymnasium pod Svatou Horou) earned a very exciting, 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles, but Howard took two of the three doubles matches (the third by default) to claim the doubles point in the match scoring.
The Bison (3-2) would go on to claim victories in all six singles matches (No. 6 by default). Nepivodova put forth an outstanding effort against Brittney Morgan in the No. 2 singles match, but ultimately went down by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
The Firebirds (10-2, No. 3 in the East Region) will look to bounce back from their first loss since the season opener on September 10, 2011 when they host Adelphi on March 11th at 11:00 a.m.
