Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team struggled to contain a high-powered Daemen University offense on Saturday, falling 21-0 in East Coast Conference play. The Wildcats set the tone early, scoring 10 unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looking back.
Despite the scoreline, UDC goalie Natalia Perkins made 15 saves on 36 shots, doing her best to anchor a Firebirds defense under constant pressure. Jada Williams led UDC with three shots on goal and also picked up two ground balls. The Firebirds battled to the end, but were unable to break through Daemen's defensive wall or capitalize on their two free-position opportunities. Head Coach Zhane Ruffin, called the game after three quarters as the Firebirds played with only 9 players on the field.
UDC, now 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in ECC play, will head to Roberts Wesleyan on April 12th for nother conference match up.
