Firebirds' Second-Half Surge Falls Short in 69-57 Loss to Jefferson
Philadelphia, PA – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team battled back in the second half but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 69-57 to regionally ranked opponent Jefferson in non-conference action Monday night. Despite a strong showing from Tori Williams and Kensley Benjamin, UDC struggled on the boards and at the free-throw line, allowing Jefferson to maintain control.
Jefferson jumped out to a fast start, outscoring UDC 22-14, using strong inside play to establish early momentum. The Firebirds had difficulty finding their offensive rhythm, scoring just nine points, which led to a 40-23 halftime deficit
