Firebirds Battle Hard but Fall Short Against Daemen, 59-56

Amherst, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team put up a strong fight against East Coast Conference (ECC) powerhouse Daemen but ultimately fell just short in a 59-56 loss on the road. Ther Firebirds slip to 5-5 in conference play while the Wildcats remain undefeated, 10-0.

Despite a strong defensive effort and a standout performance from Laci Johnson, who led all scorers with 21 points, the Firebirds couldn't close the gap in the final moments against the undefeated ECC-leading Wildcats. Daemen was led by Danielle DiCintio, who scored 18 points, including four three-pointers, while Sophie Auer contributed 13 points.

UDC kept pace with Daemen, trailing by just six points at halftime (36-30). Both teams struggled from the field, with UDC shooting 31.9% and Daemen just 24.6%. Daemen outreboundedUDC 56-46. UDC outscored Daemen 15-13 in the fourth quarter but fell just short in the final possessions.
