Flushing, N.Y.-The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team demonstrated resilience and determination in a 55-52 victory over Queens College in an intense East Coast Conference (ECC) clash on Wednesday night at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Laci Johnson and Nia Ford led the Firebird offense combining for 30 points. The Firebirds improve to 4-3 in conference play to move up to fourth place in the ECC standings.
Trailing after a sluggish third quarter, the Firebirds roared back with a dominant 21-point fourth quarter. Ford who knocked down a few clutch shots, had a season-high 15 points, while grabbing 7 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. The Firebirds forced 14 steals and held the Knights to under 30% shooting from the field.
