
UDC Women's Basketball Battles Frostburg State in Non-Conference Match Up
Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell to Frostburg State University, 72-64, on Monday evening at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. All nine Firebirds who played got on the scoreboard but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bobcats second chance points off rebounds.
Frostburg State opened strong, taking a 22-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintaining a steady pace throughout the game. The Firebirds outscoredFrostburg 17-16 in both the third and fourth quarters, but it was not enough to close the gap.
Laci Johnson led UDC with 19 points, including three three-pointers, while Tania Hill contributed a near double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Kensley Benjamin added 10 points, shooting an efficient 5-of-6 from the floor. Frostburg's Emilee Weakley was dominant for the visitors, finishing with 30 points and 14 rebounds.
