WASHINGTON, DC- the University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team fell to conference foe D'Youville University, 12-6, Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown Day School.
Donaldson led the Firebirds with a team high three goals and Jahi Guise, Julian Schemm and Zakai Robinson each added a goal of their own. On the defensive end Najee Wilson a made game-high 23 saves and Patrick Nyarko forced a game-high five caused turnovers while scooping six ground balls.
It was a close fiirst half, with DYU heading into half-time with the 4-3 advantage. The Firebirds were outscored 8-3 in the final two quarters as the Saints went on to pick up their first conference victory of the season.
The Firebirds struggled at the face-off line going just 2-22. The Saints turned the ball over 22 times compared to UDC's 20, and they outshot the home team 59-22.
Up next, UDC (1-9, 0-4 ECC) will host Roberts Wesleyan next Saturday in their final home game of the season. The game is slated to begin at 1:00pm.
