Alan Singleton Earns East Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Alan Singleton was named East Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for his performance in the week ending Sunday, February 26th.

Singleton, a freshman attack out of Montreal, Canada, registered nine points on five goals and four assists as the Firebirds split games in their opening week of the season.

Singleton helped ignite a high-powered Firebird offense that set back-to-back school records for goals scored in a game first in an 18-17 loss vs. Ohio Valley University and then in a thrilling 19-15 victory over UDC's Division I HBCU rival Hampton.

Against OVU, he registered three points on two goals and one assists, and then at Hampton, he racked up six points on three goals and three assists. His week totals include 12 shots  - 10 of which were on goal (83.3 SOG percentage), two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Singleton is now the 4th different UDC men's lacrosse student-athlete to earn an ECC Rookie of the Week honor in the program's four-year history.

Also being named to the ECC Honor Roll this week was junior midfielder LaRon Hinton, who registered 13 points on 10 goals and three assists in UDC's two games.

The Firebirds are back in action on Wednesday, March 1st as they visit regional foe Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ.
