Tevin Curtis Scores 1,000th Career Point in Firebirds' Battle Against Queens

Washington, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia's senior guard Tevin Curtis reached a major career milestone on Wednesday night, scoring his 1,000th career point in the Firebirds' 68-78 contest against Queens College. Curtis entered the game needing 5 points to hit the milestone and delivered with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.

UDC set the tone early, racing out to a 41-29 lead at halftime. The Firebirds' aggressive defense forced Queens into 8 first-half turnovers, and Khyrie Staten and Charles Holley Jr. combined for 19 points in the opening period. UDC shot an impressive 50% (8-of-16) from three-point range, spreading the floor effectively and creating open looks.

The Knights made crucial adjustments in the second half, turning up their defensive intensity and capitalizing on UDC's mistakes. Queens outscored the Firebirds 49-27 in the final 20 minutes, fueled by dominant rebounding and an uptick in transition scoring.

Despite the Firebirds' best efforts, late turnovers and missed opportunities at the free-throw line allowed Queens to seal the victory.
