
UDC Men’s Basketball Falls Short Against Roberts Wesleyan, 77-70
Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell 77-70 to Roberts Wesleyan College in Saturday's East Coast Conference matchup at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex.
Despite a strong start and a three-point lead at halftime, the Firebirds were unable to hold off the Redhawks' second-half surge. Tevin Curtis led the Firebirds with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Khyrie Staten and Rejuan Gray each contributed 15 points to keep UDC in the game.
The Firebirds started strong, outscoring Roberts Wesleyan 37-34 in the first half. However, the Redhawks found their rhythm after the break, outscoring UDC 43-33 in the second half. Roberts Wesleyan's Malik Brooks delivered a standout performance with 29 points, shooting 10-16 from the field, including three three-pointers.
UDC struggled with their shooting efficiency, converting just 34.9% of their field goal attempts.
