WASHINGTON, DC- the University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Wilmington (Del.) in a 66-78 decision, Monday night at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex.
Five Firebirds scored in double-digits with Micah Campbell leading the way with 12 points and nine rebounds. Charles Holley Jr and Tevin Curtis both posted 11 points and Hartnel Haye and Vernon Simmons each had 10.
The Firebirds shot at 32.9% from the field compared to the Wildacts 46.6%. UDC went 23.1% from distance and 68% from the free throw line. Wilmington shot 43.5% from behind the arc and 82.4% from the foul line. The Firebirds outrebounded the visiting Wildcas 42-38, had more points off of turnovers (20-10) and more second chance points (23-14).
Next up UDC (4-8, 2-2 ECC) will head Upstate to N.Y. for a conference road trip, facing off against D'Youville on Friday and Daemen on Sunday.
