WASHINGTON, DC- the University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team defeated Mercy University 76-60, Wednesday night the at E.B Henderson Sports Complex. The Firebirds move to 4-5, 2-2 in conference play, while the Mavericks fall to 0-10, 0-3 ECC.
Four Firebirds hit double digits in tonight's contest with Hartnel Haye leading the way with a double-double off of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tevin Curtis was just shy of a double-double scoring 12 points and 9 assists. Micah Campbell had 13 points and Eric Morgan Jr finished with 11.
UDC shot at 49.2% from the field, 60% from the foul line and 20% from behind the arc, while Mavericks shot at 36.4% from the field, 76.2% from the charity stripe and 28.6% from the three point line. The Firebirds outrebounded the Mavericks 42-32, forced 20 turnovers and were able to convert 16 points off those turnovers.
Up next, UDC (4-5, 2-2 ECC) will host Notre Dame (Ohio) next Saturday at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. The game is slated to begin at 2:00 pm.
