Women’s Tennis Triumphs Over Queens College 4-3 in Thrilling Conference Finale

Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team bounced back into the win column with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Queens College on Saturday. The Firebirds secured the win in a highly competitive match, improving their season record to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in ECC play.

Doubles:

Singles:

  • Desire Parn delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles, defeating Eva Rivoal 6-3, 6-2.
  • Polina Zelentsova had a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory over pre-season player of the year Maja Makal at No. 2 singles.
  • Célia Bastin clinched the match for UDC with a gritty three-set win over Kyra Bergmann 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
  • Queens College earned wins at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles, with Caroline Fawzy, Saga Berggren, and Apolline Lamy securing points for the Knights.

Order of Completion:

  • Doubles: 1, 2*, 3
  • Singles: 5, 2, 1, 4*, 3, 6

UDC (6-1, 4-1 ECC) will head to Jefferson University next Wednesday for a regional match up. The Match is slated to begin at 2:00pm.
