
UDC Women’s Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Roberts Wesleyan
Rochester, NY – The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds women's lacrosse team took on East Coast Conference leader Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon and were defeated 17-0 in a matchup that showcased the host team's offensive depth and experience.
Roberts Wesleyan, currently undefeated in conference play, came out strong from the opening draw and netted 11 goals in the first quarter. The Firebirds' defense, led by junior goalkeeper Natalia Perkins, worked tirelessly against the Redhawks' relentless attack. Perkins recorded four saves in 45 minutes of action, facing 21 shots on goal.
Offensively, UDC struggled to break through Roberts Wesleyan's tight defensive structure. The Firebirds recorded six ground balls and four draw controls, with their lone clear coming in the third quarter. Jada Williams, who collected a team-high three ground balls, while Michelle Mitchell and Keliah Tucker each added to the defensive efforts.
Roberts Wesleyan was paced by standout attacker Emma Blumenstock, who tallied a game-high 4 goals and 6 assists. Lia MacDougall and Annie Mulhall added 4 and 2 goals respectively as the Redhawks showcased their offensive efficiency with 17 goals on 25 total shots.
UDC (0-7, 0-3 ECC) heads to Trinity University on April 16th for a 4:00pm game start.
