Rockville Centre, NY – The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds faced a tough challenge on the road against Molloy University, ultimately falling 18-1 in their East Coast Conference opener at the RVC Sports Complex.
Despite a determined effort, UDC struggled to break through Molloy's defense early on. Molloy took control from the start, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter and extending their lead through the second and third quarters.
The Firebirds found their lone goal in the fourth quarter, with Michelle Mitchell netting an unassisted shot at the 3:16 mark. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Natalia Perkins made seven first-half saves, while Shannen Graham added five more stops in the second half.
UDC (0-5, 0-1 ECC) will host Daemen University on April 5th to continue conference play.
