SPARKHILL, N.Y.- the University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team fell to St Thomas Aquinas College 3-21, in a conference match up on the road.
Najee Gunter, Michelle Mitchell and Shanise Taylor scored the Firebirds three goals on the day- all of which were unassisted.
UDC was held scoreless in the first quarter, but was able to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter after a goal by Taylor. Mitchell scored their second goal in the third quarter and Gunter was responsible for the final goal, which was also the last goal scored on the day.
The Firebirds struggled to clear the ball going 4-18 and were outshot by the Spartans 45-8. Natalia Perkins made a game-high 11 saves.
Up next, UDC (0-9) will head to Daemen University next Sunday to continue conference play. Tip-off is set for noon.
