
Firebirds Overpower Roberts Wesleyan in 66-50 Road Victory
Rochester, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance, securing a 66-50 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, completing the season sweep. The Firebirds used dominant rebounding and a strong defensive effort to control the game, improving to 9-14 overall and 7-7 in ECC play. The Firebirds are ranked fourth in the ECC standings.
First Quarter: UDC started off strong but saw Roberts Wesleyan keep pace early. The Firebirds led 14-13 after ten minutes, thanks to Tori Williams' inside presence and aggressive rebounding.
Second Quarter: The Firebirds' defense ramped up, holding the Redhawks to just 14 points in the second period. Nhaikyia Smith and Kensley Benjamin sparked the offense, helping UDC take a 30-27 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter: The Firebirds took over defensively, holding Roberts Wesleyan to just nine points in the quarter while Tania Hill knocked down key buckets to extend the lead.
Fourth Quarter: UDC closed the game with a dominant 22-14 scoring advantage, fueled by their aggressive rebounding and fast-break opportunities.
