Fourth Quarter Offensive Blues Ends in Firebirds Defeat to Griffins
Washington, D.C. -The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team faced a tough 83-65 defeat at home against Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday evening. Despite a strong first-quarter lead, the Firebirds were unable to sustain momentum as Chestnut Hill took control in the second half.
UDC started the game strong, leading 18-16 at the end of the first quarter. However, Chestnut Hill responded with a dominant second quarter, outscoring UDC 22-17 to take a halftime lead. The Firebirds struggled to keep pace in the fourth quarter, where Chestnut Hill outscored them 29-13 to seal the win.
Kensley Benjamin led UDC with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Tori Williams also scored 16 points, including 10 from the free-throw line. Laci Johnson added 12 points, hitting two three-pointers.
Chestnut Hill's Bridie McCann led the Griffins scoring 25 points, including 7 three-pointers, and grabbing 8 rebounds.
