Staten Island, NY -The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team fell to Franklin Pierce University 72-58 on Saturday in their second game of the 2024-2025 season. Despite strong efforts from Tori Williams and Kensley Benjamin, the Firebirds were unable to recover from a tough second quarter and now stand at 0-2 on the season.
UDC took an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 20-16. However, Franklin Pierce responded in the second quarter, outscoring UDC 26-14 to take control of the game. The Firebirds were unable to regain the lead as Franklin Pierce maintained their advantage throughout the second half.
Tori Williams led UDC with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Kensley Benjamin added 15 points off the bench, including 3 three-pointers. Franklin Pierce's Colette Mulderig dominated inside, recording a game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds.
