
UDC Men's Tennis Falls to Adelphi in Regional Match Up
GARDEN CITY, NY – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team put up a valiant effort against Adelphi University but ultimately fell short, 5-2, in their match at the Point Set Tennis Club on March 23. Despite strong performances in singles play, the Firebirds were unable to overcome their doubles setbacks.
Adelphi dominated the doubles matches, sweeping all three to secure the first point. The duo of Louis Mangeon and Louka Queguiner battled but fell 6-2 to Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso. Sebastiano Palma and Elouan Queguiner fought hard but lost 6-1, while Oskar Karos and Filippo Vatteroni pushed their match to 6-4 but couldn't secure the win.
In singles, UDC found some success. Ghali Ouajahat Filali delivered a commanding performance at No. 6 singles, defeating Rodrigo Ochoa in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. Oskar Karos also claimed victory for the Firebirds, rallying after dropping the first set to defeat Reece Farrow 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 in a thrilling super tiebreaker.
However, Adelphi controlled the other singles matchups. Mangeon was bested by Marko Jovanovic (6-3, 6-1), and Louka Queguiner fell to Louca Bertone (6-4, 6-4). Elouan Queguiner and Palma were also unable to turn the tide, suffering straight-set defeats.
UDC (5-5, 1-1 ECC) will head to Daemen on March 29th for a conference match up.
