
Firebirds Rally in Singles Play to Defeat Chestnut Hill 5-2
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-2 victory over Chestnut Hill College, improving their season record to 3-3 overall. The Firebirds showcased resilience in singles play, bouncing back after a tough doubles session to claim the win.
Chestnut Hill secured the doubles point, winning two of three matchups:
- Cervera/Brown (CHC) def. Mangeon/L. Queguiner (6-4)
- Ouajahat Filali/E. Queguiner dominated Raeymaekers/Vangenechten (CHC) (6-1)
- Malik/Lefevre (CHC) edged Karos/Vatteroni (6-4)
Despite trailing after doubles, the Firebirds surged back in singles competition, claiming five of six matches:
- Louis Mangeon staged an incredible comeback against Pablo Cervera and clinched the victory (CHC) (0-6, 7-6(9), 6-1)
- Louka Queguiner controlled his match, defeating Alessio Lefevre (CHC) (6-1, 6-3)
- Oskar Karos outlasted Filppo Relecom (CHC) (7-6(1), 6-3)
- Elouan Queguiner dominated Menno Raeymaekers (CHC) (6-1, 6-1)
- Ghali Ouajahat Filali secured thevictory over Ewan Brown (CHC) (7-5, 6-3)
- Enzo Puppi (CHC) defeated Filippo Vatteroni (6-3, 6-1)
UDC (3-3, 0-1 ECC) will have a quick turnaround, welcoming Frostburg State to the UDC Tennis Courts tomorrow at noon.
