UDC Men’s Tennis Falls to Jefferson University 5-2
Philadelphia, Pa. -The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Jefferson University in a competitive non-conference match on Sunday. Despite winning two of three doubles matches, the Firebirds were unable to carry the momentum into singles play, dropping their season record to 1-1.
Doubles:
- UDC's No. 2 doubles pair, Sebastiano Palma and Elouan Queguiner, earned a 6-2 victory over Jefferson's Slavkovic and Rabetrano.
- At No. 3 doubles, the Firebirds' duo of Oskar Karos and Ghali Ouajahat Filali also secured a win, defeating Thibault and Mateos Melenchon 6-3.
- Jefferson's No. 1 doubles team, Soto Ballester and Anthony Moukarzel, overcame UDC's top duo, Louis Mangeon and Louka Queguiner, with a 6-2 victory, but UDC claimed the doubles point by winning two out of three matches.
Singles:
- Mario Antonio Marales defeated UDC's Louis Mangeon 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
- Jules Thibault edged out Louka Queguiner in a three-set thriller at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5).
- Anthony Moukarzel claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win over Sebastiano Palma at No. 3 singles.
- UDC's lone singles victory came from Elouan Queguiner, who battled back to defeat Enrique Soto Ballester 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
- Jefferson rounded out the match with victories by Antonio Mateos Melenchon over Ghali Ouajahat Filali (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) at No. 5 singles and Johart Rabetrano defeating Oskar Karos 6-4, 7-6(1) at No. 6 singles.
Order of Completion:
- Doubles: 2, 1, 3*
- Singles: 3, 1, 4, 2, 6*, 5
UDC (1-1) will conclude their Fall schedule on Friday, hosting Salem University at 2:00pm.
