
Firebirds Fall in Tough Battle Against Marauders in Fall Season Finale
MILLERSVILLE, PA- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Millersville University 1-6, Wednesday evening, to conclude their fall season. The Firebirds fell to 1-2 on the season and Marauders improved to 2-0.
The doubles duo of Louis Mangeon and Antonio Simo Durall picked up a 6-3 win at No.3, but the Marauders walked away with the doubles point with wins at No.1 and 2. Mangeon went undefeated on the day, battling to a three set victory at No.1, to earn UDC's only point of the day.
It was a hard fought match up, as Simo Durall, Louka Queguiner and Mauricio Corty all found themseleves in a three set affair. Simo Durall won his first set 7(4)-6, before falling to his opponent in the next two sets 2-6, 3-6. Queguiner lost his first set but forced a tiebreaker, taking the second set 7(3)-6. He eventually fell 2-6 in the tiebreaker.
The last match up of the day came at the No.6 position where Corty dropped his first set 4-6 but fought his way back to 7(5)-6 second set win. He lost the third set 0(6)-1.
This match concluded the Fall portion of UDC's (1-2) schedule. The Firebirds will be back in the Spring to continue their 2023-24 season.
