UDC Men's Lacrosse Faces Tough Road Test at D’Youville

BUFFALO, NY – The University of the District of Columbia men's lacrosse team hit the road to face East Coast Conference foe D'Youville University at Dobson Field on Thursday afternoon. Despite a gritty offensive showing from Julian Schemm and Maxwell Hansberry, the Firebirds fell 25-4.

The Saints opened the game on an offensive surge, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter. UDC responded with resilience in the second frame, with Hansberry netting two man-up goals — the first assisted by Julian Schemm and the second by Dylan Donaldson — cutting the deficit to 12-2. Hansberry would go on to score once more in the third quarter, finishing the day with a hat trick.

Schemm added a fourth-quarter goal of his own, closing the scoring for the Firebirds and rounding out a productive performance with two points (1G, 1A) and a team-high 11 shots, including eight on goal.

In goal, freshman Israel Amajioyi faced relentless pressure but stood tall with 16 saves on 41 shots on goal, helping limit damage.

Defensively, the Firebirds picked up 37 ground balls, led by Patrick Nyarko with six and Aiden O'Brien with seven. UDC was competitive at the faceoff X, winning 15 of 32 draws — with Najuane Phillpotts going 9-for-15 and Joshua Copeland 6-for-17.

Offensively, UDC took 33 total shots with 22 on goal, while committing 28 turnovers and converting 13-of-22 clear attempts.

UDC (0-10) is back in action at Molloy University on April 19th.
