WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia battled against a high-powered Frostburg State offense on Wednesday afternoon at UDC Turf Field but ultimately fell 27-2 in East Coast Conference action.
Despite a slow start, the Firebirds fought hard through four quarters, breaking through in the final period with goals from Najuane Phillpotts and Alan Fuentes. Dylan Donaldson added an assist on Fuentes' late goal, ensuring UDC finished the game on a positive note.
Goalkeeper Israel Amajioyi was a key force for the Firebirds, making 20 saves in a relentless defensive effort against Frostburg State's attack. Defender Patrick Nyarko also contributed on the defensive end, helping UDC slow down their opponent's offensive runs.
Although Frostburg State controlled possession and tempo, winning 28 of 33 faceoffs, UDC showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 2-0 in the final minutes.
UDC (0-8, 0-2 ECC) will return to action in their next conference matchup, hosting Mercy University on April 5th.
