The University of the District of Columbia's women's head basketball coach John Nakpodia, announced the hiring of Kiara Colston as the new assistant coach on November 15, 2022.

Colston comes to UDC with a little over two years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Her most recent position comes from another NCAA Division II institution Lees Mcrae College, where she served as the assistant coach for a litle over a year. Her role included facilitating the academic and athletic development of the student-athletes. 

Prior to her roll at Lees Mcrae College, Colston was the head assistant coach at Westcliff University. As a student-athlete, Colston saw much success on and off the court as she was a Dean's List stufdent, and led her team to the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, where they were Runner Ups.

Colston received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bowie State University in 2018, and went on to recieve her Masters Degree in Management from Westcliff University.

"We are very excited to welcome Kiara to the UDC family,'' said Nakpodia. "She comes highly recommended and will bring amazing energy to our university and program. She has had tremendous success as a player and as a coach. We know she will make an immediate impact in our program and help take us to new heights."
