NEW ORLEANS – Senior Kaydian Jones and junior Jerily Benjamin were two of a total of 422 women from 99 institutions across the NCAA Division II to earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments. This is the second consecutive year both student-athletes have garnered this honor.

WASHINGTON, DC – Senior Kaydian Jones of the University of the District of Columbia Track & Field team was selected as a Capital One Academic Third Team All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is the third UDC athlete in the school’s athletics history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

NEW ORLEANS – The Firebirds’ 4x400M Relay Team of Kaydian Jones, Jerily Benjamin, Marlena Wright and Simone Grant were announced All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday.

ALLENDALE, MI – The Firebirds’ women’s 4x400M Relay Team shaved nearly two seconds off of their season-best time to finish 4th in the nation at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship Finals with a time of 3:42.63 on Saturday night at host Grand Valley State University.

The UDC 4x400M Relay team earned All-American status at the Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. They will look to repeat that feat in Allendale at the Outdoor Championships.

ALLENDALE, MI - The Division II NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are in full swing today, Thursday, May 22nd, with preliminary rounds beginning in earnest in the evening. The Firebirds get on the track on Friday in the 4x400M and will be running at 8:05pm.

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Senior women’s track & field standout Kaydian Jones was one of three student-athletes presented the Excellence in Community and Character Award at the fifth annual East Coast Conference Awards Night and senior men’s tennis star Miguel Uzcategui was named the 2014 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

NEW ORLEANS – The University of the District of Columbia’s Kaydian Jones and Shauna-Kay Creary, as well as the 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors, it was announced Monday, May 12.

Senior Shauna-Kay Creary finished her season and career with a season best 11.98M leap in the Triple Jump.

BALTIMORE - Hoping to enhance placement on the NCAA Provisional Qualifying list, a small group of Firebirds competed at the Coppin State Invitational on Friday evening.

Kaydian Jones became the school's longest jumper with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 5.80M.

PHILADELPHIA – In front of a captive audience of over 49,000 at the world's largest and oldest track & field relay carnival - the 120th inception of the Penn Relays - the relay team of Kaydian Jones, Jerily Benjamin, Marlena Wright and Simone Grant represented the University of the District of Columbia in the final of the Women's College 4x400M event on Saturday night, April 26th.

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Led by their usual strong performances in the sprints and jumps, the Firebirds were able to make history by garnering University of the District of Columbia’s first East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Title at the 2014 Championships held at Georgian Court University. UDC’s win gives them a clean sweep after also capturing the ECC Indoor Championship this year as well.

Shauna-Kay Creary opened her Outdoor Campaign in the High Jump clearing 1.55M for 17th of 28 competitors in the event.

FAIRFAX, VA - With another meet primarily consisting of Division I Teams, the Firebirds again held their own and came away with strong performances at George Mason University’s Spring Invite.

The 4x400M Relay team became the first event champion at the Colonial Relays in school history.
