Russie B. Alexander Named New Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

Russie B. Alexander has joined the staff as Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach. He comes to UDC from the Fairfax County Public School System (VA) where he serves as a full-time physical education teacher.

Frederick, Maryland—April 20, 2006: Frederick, Maryland was the perfect host city for the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Tennis Team today as they defeated the hometown Hood College Blazers 6-1 in tennis competition. Hood's balls just wouldn't land inside the lines and UDC took advantage of the opportunity by winning both singles and doubles competition.

Petersburg, VA: The Uiniversity of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Tennis Team defeated the Virginia State University Trojans 4-3, 4-3 in double-header competition in Petersburg, Virginia today. In the first match singles competition Robin Janos defeated Justin Rouse 8-1, Olumide Akinwande defeated Damien Woods 8-3, and Festus Okoya defeated Musef House 8-6. Virginia State's Robert Dunham defeated UDC's Shawn Cummings 9-7, Andre Strong defeated Mirwais Nasari 8-0, and Brandon Benjamin defeated Donnell Ellis 9-8.
