Firebirds Win Double-Header Against Virginia State.

 Petersburg, VA: The Uiniversity of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Tennis Team defeated the Virginia State University Trojans 4-3, 4-3 in double-header competition in Petersburg, Virginia today. In the first match singles competition Robin Janos defeated Justin Rouse 8-1, Olumide Akinwande defeated Damien Woods 8-3, and Festus Okoya defeated Musef House 8-6. Virginia State's Robert Dunham defeated UDC's Shawn Cummings 9-7, Andre Strong defeated Mirwais Nasari 8-0, and Brandon Benjamin defeated Donnell Ellis 9-8.

In doubles competition Robin Janos and Olumide Akinwande dfeated Jusitn Rouse and Damien Woods 8-1 and Festus Okoya and Shawn Cummings defeated Robert Dunham 8-0. Virginia State's Musef House and Brandon Benjamin defeated Mirwais Nasari and Donnell Ellis 8-5.

In the second match singles competition Robin Janos defeated Justin Rouse 8-0, Festus Okoya defeated Damien Woods 8-2, and Olumide Akinwande defeated Musef House 8-2. Virginia State's Robert Dunham defeated Mirwais Nasari 8-0, Andre Strong defeated Shawn Cummings 8-6, and Brandon Benjamin defeated Donnell Ellis 8-5.

Doubles competition saw UDC Robin Janos and Olumide Akinwande  defeat Justin Rouse and Damien Woods 8-2, while Festus Okoya and Donnell Ellis downed Musef House and Brandon Benjamin 8-5. Robert Dunham and Andre Strong defeated Mirwais Nasari and Shawn Cummings 8-5 to give the Trojans their only doubles win. UDC Won the match 4-3.

UDC, whose season record is now 2-5, will see their next action on Friday, April 14, against the Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland.
