Five Firebird Runners Crack Program’s All-Time Top-25 Times at Delaware State Farm Run

SMYRNA, DE – Five of the top six runners for University of the District of Columbia at the Delaware State Farm Run Invitational cracked the program's top-25 all-time best times at the Smyrna, DE course this past Saturday. The Firebirds finished 7th with a team score of 197.

Freshman Niasia Harding paced UDC for the second straight week, finishing with a time of 24:42.00 and placing 38th of 57 runners in the field. Her time is 13th best on the program's all-time top-25 times at the DSU course.

Next in was junior Shayna Hodge, who led a pack of three Firebirds who all finished within 14 seconds of one another. Hodge improved 18 seconds from her first go-around on this course two weeks ago and placed 14th on the all-time DSU course time list with a finish of 25.10.1.

Senior Brittany Okon crossed just five seconds later at 25:15.8 – just three seconds off her career best time of 25:12.70 set on September 13th, 2014. She did, however, take 2:15 off her time in the season-opening meet at DSU, as she remains 15th on the all-time list.

Freshman Shannell Hibbert came in about 16 seconds later, earning the program's 18th best time at the DSU course with a 25:36.5 finish. Freshman Deasia Greer and junior Kenlyn Duncan followed at times of 26:25.3 and 26:41.8, respectively. Greer placed 21st on the all-time list, and Duncan placed 24th.

Also finishing for the Firebirds were freshman Temera Duncan (26:56.6), seniors Jasmine Walker (28:40.3) and Stacy-Ann Rowe (29:15.9) and sophomore Shakeithia Nicholson (36:17.8), respectively. Walker improved over five minutes from her time two weeks ago, and Rowe improved over seven minutes.

The Firebirds have two weeks of rest before they compete in the Delaware State Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 15th.
