Firebirds Compete at UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - With another splendid fall weekend of weather, the Firebirds made their way to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to compete at the annual Cappy Anderson Invitational Cross Country Meet.

UDC was led by a strong performance from junior Simone Grant (Health Education – Bronx, NY/Pelham Prep Academy) who finished 36^th  overall amongst 58 competitors, completing the 5K course in a time of 23:00 - a 45-second improvement from her season-opening effort last week.

Senior Jerily Benjamin (Health Education – Queens, NY/Phillip Randolph HS) was the next finisher for the Firebirds, finishing in 24:39 for 47^th overall, followed closely by teammates Marlena Wright, Kay-Tiarra Johnson and Christina Baker all finishing together, 49^th-through-51^st to round out the scorers for UDC. 

The Firebirds will now take a week off and return to action October 3^rd for the DSU Cross Country Invitational.
