University of the District of Columbia Announces 2013 Women’s Cross Country Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC – Third-year head coach Alton McKenzie announced the University of the District of Columbia 2013 women's cross country schedule on Tuesday, August 13th. The Firebirds are slated to compete in five invitational meets and the East Coast Conference Championship meet on October 27th in Brookville, NY.

District of Columbia will open the season on September 7th at the "Lid Lifter" 5K race hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD. The following week, the Firebirds will have a test-run of the ECC Championships course as they compete in the LIU Post Invitational on September 14th.

On September 21st, UDC will visit Towson, MD for the Towson Invitational. The Firebirds will then have a week off before they compete at the George Mason Invitational in Manassas, VA on October 5th.

The final tune-up before the ECC Championships is the Hornet Invite on October 12th, hosted by Delaware State in Smyrna, DE.

The Firebirds will have over two weeks to prepare for the ECC Championships, where last year they beat out Bridgeport to place 8th of 9 teams with a team score of 222 and a total team time of 1:57.32 (23:30.40 average).

Should any runners qualify, the NCAA East Regional will take place on November 9th in Boston, MA and the NCAA Championships are on November 23rd in Spokane, WA.
