Stellah Sang finishes 62nd in NCAA Cross-Country Championship

Joplin, Mo: November 17, 2007--UDC runner Stellah Sang finished in 62nd place in the NCAA Cross-Country Championship on Saturday, November 17, in Joplin, Missouri. Sang’s upper one-third finish was disappointing to her, but still a major accomplishment, as she competed in a field of 189 runners.

Sang completed the course in 22:14:03, as the winner Jessica Pixler from Seattle Pacific University finished with a first place time of  20:29:01. This was the first time that UDC had a runner to qualify to compete in the National Championship.

As the winner of the Southeast Region Championship, Sang automatically qualified for the National, and was named Southeast Region Runner of the Year. A native of Kapsabet, Kenya, she is pursuing a nursing degree at the University of the District of Columbia.
