Lady Firebirds Place 2nd in Virginia State 5k Meet

Petersburg, VA: September 14, 2006--  The Lady Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia improved their finish time in their second meet of the 2006 season by finishing in 2nd place, today, in the Virginia State University Cross-Country Classic Series #2. UDC finished with an overall average time of 25:59.20 minutes.

The Virginia State University Lady Trojans won the overall event with an average time of 22:49.80 course minutes. Although it rained the entire day, the Lady Firebirds persevered and ran through it for the 2nd place ranking.

Virginia State’s Aisha Mujahid came in 1st place, finishing the course in 7:30.6 minutes. UDC’s Shakira Watford finished in 7th place with an average mile of 8:13.5 minutes.

The Lady Firebird’s next meet competition will be at the Bowie State University Invitational on Friday, September 22, in Bowie, Maryland.
