UDC Women’s Volleyball Dispatches of Virginia Union in 3 Sets
Richmond, VA – The UDC Women's Volleyball Team traveled to Richmond, VA to take on Virginia Union. The Firebirds made quick work of the Panthers dispatching them in three sets 3-0. With the win the Firebirds advance to 7-10 while the Panthers drop to 4-13 on the year.
The first two sets were very close as the Firebirds won 25-21 and 25-23. In the third set the Firebirds were able to breathe a little easier as they finished off the Panthers by a score of 25-13. The Firebirds had a balanced team effort in the win. Junior libero Grace Perilli (Lewisburg, WV – Independence HS) had 8 kills and 7 digs. Junior outside hitter/ middle back Vanessa Garley (Rio Rancho, NM – Rio Rancho HS) had 9 kills and 8 digs. Senior setter/ outside hitter Grace DeMichelis ( Aurora, CO – Overland HS ) had 8 kills and 12 digs. Two freshman also performed well as middle hitter Sonas Angel (Oceanside, CA - Oceanside HS) had 7 kills and 6 digs, and setter Kamene Rose (Chula Vista, CA – Hilltop HS) 25 assists and 4 digs.
After two midweek road games, UDC remains on the road this weekend as they travel to Murfreesboro, NC on Saturday, October 1st. The Firebirds take on Lincoln (PA) at 1:00 pm and Chowan at 3:00 pm.
